Organizations must take special care in choosing & nurturing its Sales force. They must hire the right skill set, train them regularly on required & to be acquired skill set, create a platform to perform and see the "Sales People" and the "Organization" "BLOOM".
In my opinion, following qualities help you to become a "Sales Champion"
1. Passion : Sales is often compared to sports, war as they all require high energy.High passion transfers your energy around and helps you win deals.
2. Fearless : In today's scenario I personally feel in business and life you ought to be fearless. Being fearless in achieving new milestones, overcome obstacles and winning customers.
3. Re Write your "Own Rules" : Sales also involves certain amount of luck and what works for you and your organization. Do not be scared to implement what you feel works for you.
4. Coaching : I during my stint as Sales Supervisor have used this personally. Sales Champions should be a good coach as well. I used to ask Star Sales person to coach new joinee's. I feel this is a 2 way learning process for learner and coach as well.
5. Constant Educating yourself : Be update on market developments, product, competition. It adds lot of value and helps clinch deals.
6. Truthful : Be honest and ALSO appear honest. Customer will not give you an order if he does not trust you.
7. How to make things "Big" : Sales Champions have an unusual knack of making things big. They have a larger view of things, think for long term and are always on lookout for making the business "BIG".
8. Being Shameless : Once my CEO said - Be Shameless in copying if somebody is doing better than do. See what is he doing better, copy it shamelessly. Do not get into reinventing the wheel.
9. Communication : Very important. Engage the customer, show him the value and he will buy.
10. Right Circle: Attend the right industry meets, seminars, exhibitions. Be connected with the right people on digital social platforms like LinkedIn.com. Right circle helps you to get your foot in the door.
